The IE Squad was ranked 17th in the nation in 2006 at the AFA-National Individual Events Tournament.

In Impromptu, Scott went to Semi-Finals
In Extemp, both Scott and Colin went to Semi-Finals and Scott finished 6th in Finals.
In DI, Eric went to Semi-Finals.
In Prose, Eric went to Finals and was awarded 5th place.

Policy

Vanderbilt 10/20-22 2006

3 Novice Teams competed at Vanderbilt and WOW did they do awesome!!!!

We had two teams compete in the quarterfinals – Matt and Zach went 4-2 and prelims and lost to a very good Florida State team in quarters (Matt and Zach beat the team in prelims so future tournaments will have to determine who the real winner isJ ) Melissa and Neda went 3-3 and prelims and lost to a very talented Emory team in quarters. Frank and Jon were the only full team that had not attended a tournament prior to this one, and yet they too won a debate and also learned a ton!

Two people deserve special recognition – the top 7 speakers received awards at the awards ceremony – we had two debaters win awards!!! Zach Ullman was 6^th speaker at the tournament and Melissa Softness was 7^th!

Georgia 9/22-24 2006

The policy team returned from Georgia State yesterday, where they kicked off the 2006-2007 season.

Brianna and Vince finished the tournament with a 4-4 record, beating teams from West Virginia, Miami, Bard, and Missouri State!

We also took a novice Team, Matt and Melissa, and at their first tournament it was very exciting to not only see that they won a debate but also that they learned SO MUCH and came back extremely enthusiastic about policy debate!
